About

Thirty years of work, written down and handed to you.

The founder

Krista

Krista is the founder of Dreaming In Real Life and the sole author of the body of work behind it. She has spent nearly thirty years studying human behavior in practice rather than in theory, developing the frameworks, curricula and teaching methods that became DIRL.

Her work started early. She was teaching and counseling her peers before she left school, and she formalized the practice in 2001. Through the 2000s she taught workshops, wrote continuously, and worked one to one with people on the specific problems in front of them. She kept the record. Thirty years of writing, teaching, lesson material and case work sit underneath the program.

She is a published writer who has spent her career translating what she learned into material other people can use. Alongside the behavioral work she has built and shipped software for twenty five years, which is why DIRL exists as a working system rather than another manuscript.

Why she built it

The books named the problem and stopped.

She read the shelf. Every author was excellent at describing what was wrong and silent on what to do about it on a Tuesday afternoon. There was no bridge between understanding a thing and being able to do a thing.

So she built the bridge, one lesson at a time, testing it on real people with real problems for twenty five years before a single line of the software was written.
